MONROE — A fire Monday morning at Monroe High School closed the school for the day.
Around 7 a.m., Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue responded to an electrical fire in the commons. The fire stemmed from a light fixture, according to the school district. Crews extinguished the fire within 10 minutes.
“Fire personnel are on-site working to clear the building,” the high school wrote on Facebook just after 7:30 a.m. “This work will take some time so Monroe High School and Leaders High School will be closed for the remainder of the day.”
Students who were on the bus on the way to school were returned to their designated stops, instead of going to the high school.
