EVERETT — An executive director in the Snohomish County executive’s office is leaving to become the Port of Seattle’s next economic development director.
Neepaporn “A” Boungjaktha joined the county in 2022. She oversaw Snohomish County’s trade and economic development work. She was also part of the sustainable aviation fuel initiative and worked closely with Paine Field.
Her last day will be Jan. 2.
“I’ve always aspired to work for a port authority, and I appreciate this opportunity to join the Port of Seattle as it strives to be a local and global leader in economic opportunity through its gateways and its focus on sustainability and equity,” Boungjaktha said in a Port of Seattle press release. “As the Port of Seattle looks to build a port for the future, a clear vision of how economic development through real estate, economic opportunities for businesses of all kinds, and support of regional travel and tourism is essential.”
County Executive Dave Somers lamented Boungjaktha’s departure in a statement Wednesday.
“We will miss her talent, commitment, and expertise on our team, but I know she will do great work in her new role that will benefit our entire region,” Somers said.
The executive also has yet to determine if he’ll approve or veto a $3.6 billion, two-year budget for Snohomish County that passed 3-2 in late November.
