AMA EnduroCross is bringing its championship to Everett.

The indoor off-road motorcycle racing series announced it is holding its championship finale on Nov. 16 at Angel of the Winds Arena. Last year the series came to Angel of the Winds for the first time, holding it’s opening event in front of a packed house.

The championship round is the last of six events in AMA EnduroCross’ season. Last year’s championship was held in Reno, Nevada.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased on the Angel of the Winds website.

Stringer on fire for CCSU softball

Monroe High School graduate Paige Stringer, now a senior third baseman on the Central Connecticut State University softball team, is racking up the achievements and accolades early in the season.

First, Stringer was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 20-26 when she went 7-for-14 with three home runs, six runs and six RBI as the Blue Devils swept a pair of doubleheaders against Saint Peter’s and Holy Cross.

Then Stringer belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Central Connecticut State a 3-2 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday.

For the season Stringer is batting .347 with six homers and 12 RBI for the Blue Devils, who are 12-4 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Daugherty earns another GNAC honor

Lake Stevens native Lizzy Daugherty, now a senior on the Seattle Pacific University women’s track and field team, was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for March 11-17.

Daugherty, who was home schooled but competed for Lake Stevens High School, recorded an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault when she cleared 12 feet, 6.25 inches to win the event at the Pacific Lutheran Open on Saturday in Tacoma. The height was the eighth best in GNAC outdoor history.

The award was the fourth GNAC weekly honor of Daugherty’s career.

EvCC’s Fisher receives NWAC weekly award

Everett Community College’s Keaton Fisher was named the Northwest Athletic Conference’s Baseball Hitter of the Week for March 4-10.

Fisher, a sophomore first baseman who graduated from Kalama High School, batted 4-for-13 (.308) with four runs, two home runs — one of which was a grand slam — and nine RBI as Everett went 4-0 against Yakima Valley and Grays Harbor.

For the season Fisher is batting .150 with three homers and 17 RBI for the Trojans, who are 10-8.
