Five Frogs receive Northwest League All-Star nods

Everett AquaSox players Arroyo, Rodden, Garcia, Sundstrom and Schreck were selected.

Five players who played for the Everett AquaSox in 2024 were named Northwest League All-Stars by Minor League Baseball on Thursday.

Michael Arroyo, the Seattle Mariners’ No. 12-ranked prospect, joined Everett on June 25 and did enough damage at the plate to get the nod as the league’s All-Star at second base. The 19-year-old out of Cartagena, Columbia batted .290 with 12 homers and 10 stolen bases in 60 games with the AquaSox.

Arroyo joined the team when Brock Rodden was promoted to Class AA Arkansas. Rodden (ranked 23rd in the Mariners system) got on base 41 percent of the time while batting .302 with nine homers and 21 stolen bases in 67 AquaSox games.

Pitcher Brandyn Garcia (No. 16) moved up to Arkansas on June 28. With the Frogs, he went 6-0 in 14 games (12 starts) with a 1.84 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings pitched.

Jared Sundstrom (No. 30) was named the league’s All-Star at the designated hitter position. A 10th-round selection out of UC Santa Barbara in 2023, the outfielder/DH spent the entire season with the Frogs, batting .263 with 13 homers and a .380 on-base percentage while stealing 26 bases.

RJ Schreck, who was traded to the Toronto organization as part of the Mariners’ acquisition of Justin Turner on July 29, was selected as an All-Star outfielder. While in Everett, Schrek recorded a .261 batting average along with 12 homers and 20 doubles before a promotion to Arkansas on July 19.
