Pacifica Chamber Orchestra: On Dec. 7, PCO’s Annual Showcase of Local Young Musicians will present Joyce Ye, piano soloist and Alex Chen, cello soloist who will perform music by Mozart and Haydn. Also on the program is String Lake by Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Higdon plus music by Peter Warlock and Josef Suk. Four living composers’ works will be performed Feb. 22, 2025: Chicharra by Nicholas Repetto, The Flow of Compassion by M. Torumtay Altan, Movement for String Orchestra by Stefan Diehl, and Stephanie Ann Boyd’s A Kaleidoscoped Menagerie. Pacifica Chamber Orchestra performs at Zion Lutheran Church, 4634 Alger Ave., Everett. All concerts are set for 3 p.m. Saturdays, with tickets sold at the door 30 minutes before each concert. Everett Philharmonic Orchestra: The 2024-25 season continues on Dec. 1 with Music for the Imagination, That Magnificent Mozart! on Feb. 23, 2025, the Everett Philharmic Orchestra Gala on April 6, 2025, and Listener’s Choice on June 1, 2025.

Ellensburg Winds Quintet, presents “A Musical Treat”: Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Everett, 2636 Rockefeller Ave. Five outstanding woodwind players will “Treat” you to a program suited for the Halloween season. STAGE, THEATER AND DANCE

Village Theatre: The 2024-25 season comprises four musicals and a murder mystery.

All five shows will be staged by the professional theater company at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave., Everett. For more, go to villagetheatre.org.

• “Camelot,” the beloved musical by Lerner and Loewe, will run from Oct. 19 to Nov. 10.

• “Legally Blonde,” the stage musical version of the Reese Witherspoon movie. Jan. 4-26, 2025.

• “Dial M for Murder,” a new adaptation of the murder mystery chestnut, promising more twists and turns than the Hitchcock film. March 1-23, 2025.

• “Jersey Boys,” The story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, who sang like angels and cussed like Jersey teenagers. May 3-25, 2025.

• “The Color Purple,” a musical based on Alice Walker’s novel and Steven Spielberg’s movie. July 5-27, 2025.

VISUAL ARTS

SnoCo Movie Club Screening & Discussion: SnoCo Movie Club will be screening “The Thing” (1982) at 2:30pm on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Everett Public Library auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave, Everett. Cascadia Art Museum: Current exhibitions at this venue for Northwest art from the early and mid 20th century are: “A Legacy Rediscovered: Northwest Women Artists 1920-1970,” through Jan. 5, 2025; and “Modern Forms / Modern Adornment,” through Nov. 24. Lynnwood Event Center: The “Longing For Home” art exhibit, presented by the Korean American Artists Association of Washington State, will run through Dec. 13 at 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.

The exhibit celebrates the rich cultural heritage and artistic expression of the Korean American community through mediums such as oil, ink, watercolor, photography and recycled materials. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more, go to lynnwoodeventcenter.com.

COMMUNITY

A look back at the history of ski resorts: Join the Monroe Historical Society for its fall program Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Monroe Public Library. Local historians will explore the development and history of local ski resorts like Stevens Pass and those that are no longer operating like Mount Pilchuck and Yodelin. The free event is open to the public. All ages are welcome. We are looking for local skiers, snowshoers and sledders to bring memories to share with the group!

“One Uncontainable Gift” Christmas Dance Recital: This family-friendly production is a celebration of the holiday season through dance and creative expression.

Wintertide Lights: Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, 145 Alverson Blvd in Everett today announced that Wintertide Lights will return this year, open nightly from 4-8 p.m., Dec. 1-31, with a special two-hour Luminary Solstice Walk on Dec. 21 from 5-7 p.m.

Wintertide Lights, now in its 5th year, began as a way for the community to gather safely during the pandemic in December of 2020. It’s popularity with locals and visitors is beyond debate. Free and open to all, Wintertide Lights has quickly become a family tradition.

Join Providence General Foundation for holiday musical performances and activities—including Providence General Children’s Association’s Teddy Bear Celebration featuring Tim Noah.

This is a ticketed event and Providence General Foundation’s main fundraiser of the year. It raises money for Children’s Services at Providence Everett.
