EVERETT — It’s showtime under the stars.
It goes on all year at drive-in movie theaters, the few that are left. At city parks, the free outdoor movies are a summer thing.
Friday is movie night at parks in Everett, Edmonds and Monroe.
In Monroe, the five-week Movies Under the Moon series kicks off Friday with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” at Lake Tye Park, 14964 Fryelands Blvd. Activities start at 8 p.m. and the show at dusk.
At Boxcar Park at the Port of Everett, “The Boys in the Boat” is Friday on the inflatable screen. In Edmonds, the season concludes Friday with “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” at Hickman Park, 23700 104th Ave. W.
The two-show season starts Aug. 9 in Lake Stevens at Lundeen Park, 10020 Lundeen Parkway, with “The Goonies” and “Monsters, Inc” on Aug. 23. Themed activities will take place before the show and costumes are encouraged.
Flicks are Saturday in Marysville and various nights in Mountlake Terrace.
“Barbie” is this Saturday in Marysville at Jennings Park, near the Lions Pavilion. In Mountlake Terrace at Terrace Creek Park, 23200 48th Ave. W., see “The Lego Movie.”
Movies are shown on two more Wednesday nights in Mukilteo. On Aug. 7, “Elemental” plays at Mukilteo Lighthouse Park, 609 Front St., and “Despicable Me” on Aug. 21.

Want to go to a real drive-in movie theater?
Movies are nightly at the Blue Fox Drive-In in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. The venue has blockbusters, go-karts and an arcade. Kids aged 5 to 10 get into the show for $1, with those 4 and under free. Ages 11 and up are $6.50 cash or $7 with credit card.
The mesmerizing concession stand will make you feel like a kid again.
