Every year The Daily Herald takes nominations and lets readers vote for the Best of Snohomish County Awards. This year, 80,000 votes were cast. There are dozens of categories, but here are the 2023 top choices for best second hand shop:
First Place: Assistance League of Everett in Everett
This thrift shop on Evergreen Way is operated by the volunteer-run nonprofit organization Assistance League of Everett. Proceeds go towards Operation School Bell, one of the group’s main programs which provides new clothing, hygiene kits, and shoes for students living below the poverty line.
“I think it’s important, at least to me it is important, to realize that it’s not just a kid here and a kid there,” volunteer Eileen Tietze said to The Daily Herald in 2019. “We make a difference for the whole community.”
Donations are accepted Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to noon.
Second Place: Renew Home and Decor in Everett
Third Place: Fabulously Frugal Thrift Shop in Snohomish
Additional Nominations: Cassandra’s Closet in Everett, Silvana Five & Dime Thrift Store in Silvana
