LYNNWOOD — A man was killed Monday morning near Lynnwood after the shed he was living in caught fire, authorities said.
Just after 8 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 20500 block of Larch Way, said South County Fire spokesperson Christie Veley. When crews got to the scene, they found the fire was in a shed next to the home. The shed was used as a residence. A resident of the home on the property tried to put out the fire with a garden hose, but was unsuccessful.
Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to the home on the property. It took them about five minutes to extinguish the fire. A 24-year-old man was found dead in the shed, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Renee Cooper.
Both the sheriff’s office and Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office were investigating the cause of the fire. The sheriff’s office was not investigating the fire as suspicious, Cooper said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man, as well as determine the cause and manner of his death.
